About Kilbarrack

Roddy Doyle taught at Greendale Community School here for fourteen years and used Kilbarrack as the basis for fictional 'Barrytown' in The Commitments, The Snapper, and The Van — giving the area an unlikely literary fame. The DART station connects residents to the coast at Howth and the city centre with equal ease, while the ruins of Kilbarrack Church and its ancient graveyard overlooking the sea predate the suburb by centuries.
