About Newtown Blackrock

The townland of Newtown — historically 'Newtown-at-the-Black Rock' — bridges Blackrock and Dún Laoghaire along the coastal road. This is one of the area's older settlements, referenced in a 1488 Act of Parliament. The residential streets benefit from proximity to both Blackrock village's shops and market and Dún Laoghaire's harbour and seafront. Period homes mix with later development along a stretch of coastline that drew settlers centuries ago.
