Site Location Maps for Planning Permission
Every planning application in Ireland requires a site location map. Our Planning Pack gives you everything you need.
What's Required?
All local authorities in Ireland require a site location map as part of any planning application — whether it's an extension, new build, change of use, or retention. The map must be prepared on an Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI) base map at the correct scale, with the site clearly outlined.
Our Planning Pack Includes
- Site location map — your site outlined in red on an OSI base map at 1:1000 (urban) or 1:2500 (rural) scale
- Record place map — a wider-area map showing the site in context, typically at 1:10560 or 1:5000 scale
- OSI map licence fee included
- Delivered by email (PDF) and by post
Scale Requirements
Local authorities specify the required map scales. Typically:
- Urban areas: 1:1000 site location map
- Rural areas: 1:2500 site location map
- Record place map: 1:10560 or 1:5000 depending on the local authority
If you're unsure which scale you need, just tell us your local authority and we'll prepare the maps to the correct specification.
The Process
Email us your site address, Eircode, and the name of your local authority. If you have a site layout or architect's drawings, include those too — they help us identify the exact boundaries. We'll prepare your Planning Pack within 3–5 working days.
